wow it as been a while since i have posted anything huh. We had a great time over christmas break in Indiana. We are back home now in Turku getting settled into life again. Getting back to school and trying to get Emily back to a normal sleeping pattern. she is doing pretty well, just waking up a bit more in the night than she used to.
i don't have much to say, just thought i should post something.
This morning I got up early to get some school work done before I went in for my Swedish class. I didn't end up getting any work done, because I spent the time buying tickets for us to come home to Indiana for Christmas. We had previously found some reasonable tickets (there aren't many out there) but when we went to buy them. they had gone up, dang. so we waited and the next morning they were back down! So Sara, emily and I are coming Dec 13 - Jan 3. We are looking forward to getting our fill of some good food, time with family and friends, playing/researching guitars, and no duobt shopping (Sara is like, hey America has cheap stuff!!!!) So definitely looking forward to this. We look forward to getting to hang out with a bunch of people, Jake that's you man! I really don't know how many people use this much anymore. ok well, back to work. till next time
It is that time again. I sent out our newsletter yesterday, so here it is as well (minus pictures).
THE PRATTS AT CC FINLAND September 2008
Summer is over and school is in full swing. We had
a busy summer with lots of blessings. Here are some of them.
Emily is growing quite a bit; or at
least growing up. It is definitely great to see her learn new things and become
more and more fun; but we get a little sad that she isn’t as small as she used
to be! She is doing great, healthy, happy, and fun. She sleeps great at night
(good for us) and smiles a lot these days. Emily has a new friend now in Russell. Bob and Mari had their baby
boy on August 2nd. Everything went well and they are all doing fine.
He is a cute little guy.
Russell
was born while we (Aaron, Sara, Kyle, and Olli) were at the Scandinavian Conference in Denmark.
Bob didn’t make it after all, but it was good for him to be there for Russell’s
delivery. Worship went great. I didn’t get sick and lose my voice like last
year! Also, in light of Bob’s absence, I ended up teaching one of his sessions
(on Daniel 8). It was a little bigger of a setting than I have ever taught in
(70 adults and some seasoned teachers); but God gave me complete peace when I
got up and it was a lot of fun!
In
mid-August we have had an outreach team
from Calvary Chapel Macedon, Bob’s home church, near Rochester, New York.
They are always a great group to host and serve alongside of. We did a lot of
street evangelism: music, witnessing, praying. We did a kid’s festival in our
neighborhood of Varissuo. Of course they joined for the Bible studies here in Turku and in Helsinki.
I think for us, despite the long days of walking and physical tiredness, it was
a nice time of refreshment with brothers and sisters.
Essi and Daniel’s weddingtook
place on August 31st. Bob was able to oversee the ceremony and
Tuukka translated. There were many guests who were not saved, some even
atheists. Essi and Daniel asked Bob to present the Gospel during the ceremony,
and he came through! Also, Aaron and others played some worship music during
the reception which seemed relatively well received.
Aaron is back to normal full studies at university.
He has 2 years left until he graduates. Sara is going to take a few online
courses that can be done at home, so she can still study a bit, but will mostly
be staying home with Emily.
Over
the summer Aaron was able to make a few more additions to the church website.
One of which was podcasts for our teachings. You can listen to and download all
our Bible studies straight from the website: www.calvarychapel.fi but now the
podcasts make downloading simple and automatic. So if you are interested,
please go to the website to find more information.
Daniel Ornelas and Aaron Bach recently
visited the fellowship. They both have a very strong desire to come to Finland, specifically Helsinki, and see a work happen. They had
been there 7 years ago, but had to leave because of visa problems. We are
praying and waiting to see when these great brothers and their wives will be
able to join us here.
October
will be a busy month for us as Aaron, Sara, and Emmy travel to Austria for Jojo’s
wedding (a good friend from Bible
College)! Then a mission’s team from CCBCE will be here
October 17-26.
Prayer
Requests
-Travel mercies to Austria (for Emily)
-Fruit from the outreach team in October
-Anssi, Tuukka, and Jaakko in the army
-Direction and provision on possibly visiting
Indiana this Christmas!
-Balancing family, ministry, and school time!
Praise God for a great outreach time in August
Praise God for Emily and Russell
Praise
God for His goodness and faithfulness

Lord your God,
The olympics are well underway! it has been fun watching Michael Phelps smash every world record (most of them his to begin with) on route to winning hopefully 8 gold medals this olympics! of course, the bball is fun to watch. more like a slam dunk contest for the us team, but they should have some good competition coming up!
so, in honor of the olympics, you have to see this video! i guess i can't put it here, but click to link to check it out! ok there are more
Wow, i haven't posted since Emily was first born? yikes. well i guess since jon hasn't been hassling me about it then there is nor major problem. Well life is going well. The summer is nearing the end stages. We have an outreach team from Rochester New York coming August 18-29. We just got back from the Calvary Chapel Scandinavia Conference in Denmark. It was an awesome time of teaching and worship and fellowship. Even Emily made a friend, an Irish woman named Lorna (they were best buds)! It was a blast, it seems the conference gets better every year. It was great for me since, as the worship leader, i didn't get sick and loose my voice like last year! I also taught Daniel 8 (we went through the book of Daniel) in pace of Bob, who was unable to make it due the little Russell being born! Russell was born Saturday morning at around 4 am, he is about 50 cm long and weighs 3.160 kilos! He is a healthy cute little dude. He and mommy came home from the hospital a couple days ago now and are getting adjusted to the new life. Last night at Bible study Bob said it is a lot of fun having him at home, but too distracting (the cuteness) that he has a hard time getting studied for Bible study. We are all doing well and healthy. Emily is growing up. Learning how to interact and play with you a bit. She gets more fun by the day, and unfortunately bigger too! alright well a few pics, you can of course find a bunch more on my picassa site.
